Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide positive behavior system that is focused on defined behavior expectations and positive reinforcement for all students. Northwood Elementary School’s R.O.L.L program is a school-wide commitment to positive behavior support. Identifying, teaching, and reinforcing the expected behaviors allow students to achieve academic, behavioral and social success. PBIS stems from the University of Oregon’s Center of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (P.B.I.S) program. Two years ago, Northwood Elementary decided to adopt the P.B.I.S. philosophy and our first step was outlining our school-wide expected behaviors. We decided on R.O.L.L., which stands for Respectful, On-time and Ready, Living Responsible, Living Safely.
